Society of St. Vincent de Paul | Holy Family

Our Mission

To Live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy.

Our meetings are open to all interested adults and are the first Saturday of each month at 9AM.

The SSVDP Holy Family Conference is looking for help with the following:

  • someone with administrative skills who can take on the role of secretary with the responsibility of preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes, as well as keeping our membership list updated
  • someone interested in helping to prepare applications for the Ozanam Education Fund, which is an Ontario Regional Council project to help eligible people receive a grant for post-secondary education
  • more members to help make visits to people in need be a friend and deliver food gift cards.

Should you be interested please contact or would like more information, please contact Sharon Wright-Evans at wright_evans@rogers.com

Plans for the future…

We are seeking ways to add to the food vouchers that we provide to our friends in need. Given that, we are asking for the support of all the gardeners in the family of parishes who would be willing to share a portion of their autumn produce –tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, peppers, and perhaps, lettuce.

We imagine a September Harvest Day in which individuals would be invited to select veggies of their choice. Tables would be set up on the church grounds with vegetables set out for selection. A date has not been set yet, so please stay tuned. Thank you for your continued support of the Holy Family Conference Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.

Who are we?

Founded in 1833, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) is an international lay organization, united in the mission to serve persons in need. In Canada alone, the SSVP helps more than 350,000 people each year. We provide material support in the form of non-perishable food, clothes, household items and furniture to individuals and families across the country. Whether in their homes, on the street, in shelters, in hospitals or in prison, our work knows no boundaries. The Society also provides assistance to refugees, immigrants, and northern communities.

Our founding activity, still practiced today, is the Home Visit. Through these visits, our members, known as Vincentians, establish personal relationships with persons in need by offering material assistance, as well as friendship and understanding.

The SSVP is an international lay organization, founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric
Ozanam
and his friends under the patronage of Saint Vincent de Paul.

“Charity is the Samaritan who pours oil on the wounds of the traveler who has been attacked. It is justice’s role to prevent the attack.”

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam

Our meetings are open to all interested adults and are the first Saturday of each month at 9AM. (twice monthly September to December).
